Eldrimner, the national resources centre for artisan food will during August 2009 be hosting for the second yearcarry through “Taste Delights” – a Food Experience Fair in Stockholm. The focus is on Swedish artisan food producers and the theme is the taste.
It is an outstanding event – the biggest Nordic event on the theme of small scale artisan food. Admission is free.
It is a powerful manifestation for both the profession and the regions and also for the individual producers. The fair will be held on 21.-23. of August 2009 in central Stockholm, in Tantolunden.
The fair is dedicated solely to artisan food producers. Under the weekend they invade Stockholm, showing and selling their products and meeting their customers. As a visitor you have the opportunity to taste your way through a mini culinary Sweden, discovering thousands of award winning delicacies that are every bit as distinctive as their regions of origin - Salmon and seafood delicacies from crystal clear waters, salamis and hams from elk and reindeer, preserves from zesty northern berries and freshly harvested organic fruit and vegetables are just some of the products waiting to tempt you at this mouth-watering event.
In addition you’ll meet Sweden’s new wave of food and drink producers, who are combining national and international influences in ever more innovative ways. Along the way creating products ranging from asparagus schnapps, microbrewery beers and cloudberry wines to coffee cheese, elk salami and ostrich milk ice cream.
Some of the country’s top chefs will be demonstrating just what they can achieve with Sweden’s finest food and drink in special competitions to be held at the event.
The event is a physical manifestation of the award winning food producers road map printed in 2006, that contains over 900 artisan food producers from all over Sweden.
Each Swedish region presents themselves at the event with their local specialities and the people who produce them as the centre of attention. The fair gives also a fantastic possibility for every region to market themselves as a tourist attraction, with a focus on their own regionally unique artisan food.
The fair is not only about selling and tasting products but also about showing people how to make handmade cheese or cure meat, bake bread or preserve berries or vegetables in a traditional handcrafted manner.
As a visitor and consumer you will have possibility to buy artisan food products and experience tastes you never felt before. On site there are many restaurants and cafés serving food from the different regions.
Taste Delights is an event for everyone from food gourmets to the whole family, with expert led tasting academies, regional picnics, international food debates and seminars, cooking demonstrations, goat racing, children’s events plus special youth activities organised by Sweden’s young food activists
